Like Father, Like Son
The Pernesiglio family has been in NEMA for over 40 years. It started with Pete Pernesiglio (Mazda Pete) in 1978 when he bought his first midget. Mazda Pete has given multiple drivers their first opportunity to run a NEMA midget as well as his son Peter Pernesiglio. Michael’s racing journey started in the year 2015 when he started out in quarter midgets at the Little T Speedway. Michael worked his way up through the ranks as he went from Quarter midgets to 270 micros in Pennsylvania and now currently the North Eastern Midget Association.
Now, Peter Pernesiglio has handed the torch down to Michael to carry on the Pernesiglio legacy - as he is the 3rd Generation racer in the family. This will be Michael’s fourth year in the Nema Lite division and will take on this year with a new car!
All About Mike
Michael Pernesiglio is a 17 year old from Long Island, New York. Michael’s goal for the year is to claim his first NEMA Lite career win. The Pernesiglio team has big plans for the year with a new car they bought over the off season! Michael will be running full time in 2024 with the NEMA Lites. Michael is hoping to make it big and one day run with the USAC Dirt Midgets and World Of Outlaws.
Michael Pernesiglio has over 20+ wins in Quarter Midgets. Michael has also won a Honda .25 National Championship Race at the Little T Speedway in Blue Rookie. Michael then moved up and claimed 3 wins at Greenwood Valley Action Track in the 270 division. In 2021 Michael claimed his first podium at The New London Waterford Speedbowl finishing 3rd place. In 2022 Michael claimed two more podiums both finishing 3rd at The Lee USA Speedway and the other at Seekonk Speedway where he bested Kenny Shrader to the line.
