Investing in Passion
For the last 18 years John and his father have been racing together, just the two of them. The team has expanded though with my daughters Brooklyn (11), Anna (10), and son Johnny (6). There is a quote about investing in your passion which is an investment in yourself… and that is what racing has been for the Zych family, a passion.
Driving the #9
John started racing after he graduated from college. That was the first time racing - so a late start compared to most. They knew next to nothing and it just grew from there.
"I am proud that we won 3 championships and 25 races with NEMA. I still race because it is not enough to satisfy me, but when I think about where we started, it gives me some appreciation about the journey. "
Team/Owner
- The team got their first NEMA win with the same Drinan Esslinger combination that they race now.
- They got started with their first NEMA car from the Stoehrs, and the current car is from the Bertrands.
